The Five Best Headingley Restaurants

Headingley MB restaurants

Headingley is a fast-growing luxury neighbourhood on the outskirts of Winnipeg. With home prices exceeding $1,000,000, some of the city's wealthiest are moving to the neighbourhood. As it is growing so fast, there is a need for more restaurants, but they are fantastic for the small number they have. If you are looking for an up-and-coming neighbourhood just outside Winnipeg, this is the neighbourhood for you.

Here Are My Favourite Headingley Restaurants

Nick's Inn

This walk-up and order place to get food is perfect when we are outdoors as a family. Sometimes, we get food; other times, we get ice cream or cinnamon rolls. The prices are low, and the quality is high. It is a popular place, and plenty of outdoor seating is available. They also have a small dining room area for those who prefer being indoors or when it is too cold to be outside.

They offer delicious breakfast options, including omelets with a variety of ingredients you can pick. I often get the steak and eggs; this is the perfect combination, and the meat is tender and juicy. The coffee is smooth, and they keep a good eye on your cup, refilling it frequently. I never have to ask for that to be done.
They feature plenty of different burgers; Nick's Big Greek burger is at the top of my list. It comes with a side of fries and the homemade coleslaw I like. Two of the dinner entrees I get are the hot turkey sandwich and the hot roast beef sandwich. Both are served open-faced, smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes.

Husky House Restaurant

I'm not even going to hide the fact that it's a gas station with a restaurant. It's still one of my favourites to stop at on the way to the lake. Homemade Canadian favourites are offered, and you won't be disappointed. I first came here with my best friend when he moved to a new area. I went to visit with him, and we came here for dinner. He doesn't cook much, and this place was one he wanted to share with me. It was conveniently located in his new place, and he couldn't get enough of their delicious food.

They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On the weekends, they offer brunch. For breakfast, choose from classic favourites, including omelets and pancakes. For lunch, they have several types of sandwiches and salads to choose from. The sandwiches are piled high with meat, and the fries on the side are always hot and fresh.

Dinner entrees include a side and a roll; the portions are generous. I have tried the chicken a few times, and it was terrific. The roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes, a side of vegetables, and brown gravy hits the spot every single time, though!

For dessert, you can't beat the blueberry pie with whipped cream. It is delightful, and I often ask for a cup of coffee to go with it. This is the perfect way to finish up our meal. It also gives us more time to linger and visit before we go our separate ways.

The Gates On Roblin

website

Gates on Roblin Prime RibAlthough I've only been to the Gates a few times, each time has been memorable. The Gates dinners are usually for special occasions as they can be expensive. The atmosphere is what makes this place. They also host weddings, which I heard are magical as well.

The last time I went, I had the prime rib, which couldn't have been better. The marbling of the meat, cooked to perfection, was one of the best meals I've ever had. A group of 12 of us went, and with dinner and several bottles of wine, it made for the perfect night out. Because of the size of our party, they put us in a small room for just the 12 of us. That made the night even more special. I recommend The Gates On Roblin for a special night out.

Headingley Grill Restaurant And Catering

This may look like your typical diner, but the experience isn't something you will soon forget. I like eating here because the food is excellent, and the service is always delightful. While the place is busy and buzzing with conversation, you get personalized service. The food is served quickly, which I appreciate. I often dine here for lunch and want plenty of time to enjoy my food before returning to showings in the area.

The spicy Manitoba burger is the item I order the most. The beef is top quality, there are two kinds of cheese, and the spicy sauce and peppers are phenomenal. It comes with fries and coleslaw, one of the best burgers I have ever had!

The menu offers tons of salads, sandwiches, and hot dogs. They also have dinner entrees; the meatloaf is excellent. I won't say this to my wife, but I prefer to eat meatloaf here over what she makes for us at home! Not that hers isn't wonderful, but there is something original and better at Headingley's that I enjoy.

They have a great kid's menu, too, with low prices. My kids can get a burger, sandwich, drink, and fries for only $8. Overall, the prices on the menu are excellent, and it is nice to dine out and not worry about how much it will cost!

Ying Ying Chinese Food

We enjoy this Chinese restaurant, and so do my parents. They come to visit every couple of months. We ask where they would like to eat and my mom always chimes in that this Chinese food place is what she has been waiting for as she counted down the days to their arrival. They pile the food high, and we always have plenty to take home and heat up for a second meal the next day.

They offer an extensive menu with just about any Chinese food you can imagine available. I like to get the beef broccoli; the vegetables are fresh and tender. The meat is delicious. The noodles are homemade and delicious. They are generous with the rice served with almost everything on the menu.
